  • Work to the best of my ability without disturbing others
  • Show respect and good manners to others
  • Take responsibility for my own belongings and respect others property
  • Accept the consequences of my behaviour calmly

Adults’ Responsibilities

Parents’/ Carers’ Responsibilities

  • To support the school in the implementation of the golden rules with their children
  • To get children to school on time, ready to work and appropriately dressed
  • To share information and concerns with the school
  • To treat all children and adults in school with respect
We want children to succeed

Within school we use various strategies and approaches to foster positive attitudes and good behaviour. These include:

  • Following our golden rules
  • Our Assertive Discipline Approach and Procedures where management of behaviour is based on positive praise and reward systems.
  • Lunchtime rewards for good behaviour
  • Each class has agreed codes of behaviour which are consistent throughout the school
  • Working with outside agencies on PHSCE issues

Rewards

Children are continually praised for good behaviour and can receive various forms of rewards. These include verbal praise, stickers, head teacher awards, golden time/choice time and other tangible awards. Parents learn about their child’s good behaviour through verbal messages and notes or cards home. Each week we also hold a ‘Celebratory Assembly’ – where children’s good behaviour is identified by all staff.

Consequences

Children are taught that whilst there are rewards for good behaviour, there are also consequences for bad behaviour. These include warnings, time out, completing ‘Reflecting on my behaviour sheets’, missing all or parts of playtime & ‘golden time/ choice time’, seeing senior members of staff, informing parents and meeting with the Head teacher. Continuous inappropriate behaviour may result in parents/ carers being asked to come to school, internal seclusions, involvement of external agencies or a child being excluded. Extreme cases of bad behaviour can also result in an immediate exclusion.
