We ask all parents to provide us with an emergency contact number so that they can be notified if their child becomes ill during the school day.
Please keep you child at home if they are ill. This is particularly important in the case of infectious diseases.

Bernard Gilpin Primary School has adopted a policy whereby children are not allowed to bring mobile phones to school for personal use.

School Uniform

Uniform

At Bernard Gilpin Primary School we like our children to wear school uniform as it promotes a sense of identity and pride in our school. Samples of our uniform are always available in school. The new uniform is now available. All garments have their owner’s name embroidered on them so they can easily be returned if lost.

Uniform prices:

Item Price £
Sweatshirts £8.50
Sweat Cardigans £10.50
Tipped Polo Shirt £8.00
Stormproof Coat £17.00
P.E. Kit £10.00

School wear should consist of appropriate clothing and footwear and be clearly marked with your child’s name. Please ensure all other items of clothing, for instance coats, are named, this makes it possible to return garments to their owners if they are lost.

It is essential that the children change for P.E. They need shorts, t-shirts and trainers for physical activities. P.E. clothing should be plain (no patterns or logos).

The Headteacher has the right to prohibit the wearing of certain types of clothing – items which are considered, on safety or other grounds, to be unsuitable for school.

Our no jewellery policy is in the interests of your child’s safety. Parents should note that if they intend to have a child’s ears pierced this needs to be carried out at the beginning of the summer holidays to allow time for wounds to heal. No item of jewellery other than wrist watches should be worn for school.
