Sports Week - 28th June to 2nd July 2010

Mrs Jenkins organised our second annual Sports Week and we all had an amazing time.
We started the week with a special Opening Ceremony on the school playground. A child from each class read out their sporting pledge and we all paraded around the yard with our specially made flags. The children in Reception then treated us to a spectacular Dragon dance and we also enjoyed a skipping dance from the children in Year 3 and 4. We even had some cheerleading!
We were visited by some professional coaches to teach us all about some new sports, including golf, football, volleyball, judo and table tennis. The grown ups even got involved with a staff -v- pupils Netball match and we teamed up together for a school Rounders match.
All of the children were given the chance to compete in a whole school bowling tournament. Each class had a session on the Wii, with the highest scoring teams going through to a final on Friday.
The teachers had to be a little bit brave for the sponsored penalty shoot out, because they were the goal keepers... and we had to wear giant inflatable gloves. Our children are very talented kickers, but we did manage to save one or two goals!
We all worked together in a collaborative 'Coast to Coast' run, covering the 180 miles by running at least 4 laps of the field each.
We rounded off the week with a whole school picninc. We all ate our packed lunches on the grass, then headed into the hall for our Closing Ceremony. Each class gave a presentation about their chosen country and we were treated to a multimedia slide show of photographs from the week.
What a fabulous week, many thanks to Mrs Jenkins for all her planning and organisation.
